Wiesje Miedema

Wiesje Miedema is a Dutch violin player and teacher who mainly teaches children in the age of 4 to approximately 18 years old.

After finishing her studies with Jan Repko at the conservatorium of Groningen, Wiesje committed herself to teaching children and to the development of repertoire for young violinists and string ensemble. Next to having a blossoming violin school and being primarius of the Zinzadse stringquartet, she now teaches violin at the Sweelinck Academy, the academy for exceptional gifted young musicians department of the Amsterdam university of the Arts. At that institution she also teaches Methodology to the BA students.

She teaches courses and masterclasses in different cities all over the world such as Surabaya, Johannesburg, Braga and Birmingham and gives lectures about violin teaching for different groups of teachers.

Wiesje’s students have won first, second and third prices at the Dutch violin completion, PCC and Britten competition. Between them they form ensemble Stringwise and the Jan Pieterz ensemble two groups of perky young musicians that love to perform on any stage.
